About How to get to St. Petersburg from Helsinki

How to get to St. Petersburg from Helsinki?
I am from Malaysia. I wish to go to St. Petersburg and Moscow but don't seem to get any flights on budget airlines operating from London. Is Helsinki a cheap point to travel to St. Petersburg, by bus or train? How long does it take? Any reliable tour companies that you recommend for these places. We are on a budget. Thanks.

Hi, you can go to Saint Petersburg from Helsinki by 2 trains: 7:23 a.m from Finland, in 2:05 p.m arriving to Saint Petersburg. And another - 3:23 p.m from Helsinki and 10:28 p.m you will be in Saint Petersburg. I think, it`s better, then fly by plane or go by bus.

Is it a little far to travel from the airport in St.Petersburg to the Carnival cruise port in Tampa?

It's about a 40 minute drive, when traffic is heavy... 25 or so if it's not. You would pay about $50 for a cab ride.

It's not far at all. The airport there is in Tampa, unless St Pete has an airport also

I would recommend that you do not go because there are still some safety and health hazards due to the current oil spill. I guess it is your choice though but just to let you know, there are a lot of bad things that can occur due to the oil spill. St. Petersburg is about 500 miles away from the area of the spill. Go ahead and travel. It is very unlikely that the spilled oil will ever get there

I Think you won't have problem in Russia , but i wouldn't go to Egypt or Turkey . it's an ugly world we leave in .

I'm pretty sure it's safe to travel to those places. My jewish side of the family is from Russia and I know there's a lot of jewish people there. For Turkey and Egypt, even though the predominant religions aren't Jewish, the people there are pretty tolerant. I'd be weary of going to the south or border of Turkey though. It's pretty close to the Middle East with Iran/Iraq/Palestine and we all know how much they love Jews over there.

Why does Yahoo Travel Destinations Spot allow pictures of Alaska or Yosemite in a series on St. Petersburg?
Doesn't anyone edit the pictures that are featured for a given detination? It's silly to have pictures of other places stuck in the middle of a series on a particular place.

I agree with you!! My guess is that the pictures were put in by someone who had no idea of what they were doing and just wanted to get the task assigned to them done
