What train travels from Moscow to St. Petersburg and vice versa?
How many hours does the fastest train reach St Pete from moscow? If there isnt a huge difference in price than air travel,i'd go for the latter...to save time and be more comfortable.

Average time between two cities is usually 8 hours. The best time to travel is to take a train at midnight, sleep on the train and you are at your destination early in the morning. There are speedy trains that only take 4 to 5.5 hours. Obviously those are more expensive. Traveling by train is usually much cheaper. However, if you are taking a luxury compartment or taking an express fast train, traveling by plane might be cheaper in some situations. I would still suggest traveling by train between two cities. Less hassle with baggage to deal with and transfers to and from airport can be pretty exhausting especially in Moscow. I would suggest buying train tickets in advance. It is a very popular route, therefore, tickets sell out pretty quickly.
Answer 2 :
There's a fast express train from Moscow to St. Petersburg called "Sapsan", but it's expensive too. Takes about 4 hours to cover 800 km distance between cities. U will loose more time in the airport with all those pre-flight procedures and baggage... If U wanna save take regular train
